Alcides Gerardi

Having documented 194 78 rpm albums and six LP’s, Alcides Gerardi acquired success between 1945 and 1967, especially being a bolero singer. His biggest strikes will be the samba “Antonico” (Ismael Silva), afterwards re-recorded by Gal Costa and Elza Soares; “Tudo Foi Ilusão” (Laert Santos/Arcilino Tavares); “Brotinho Maluco” (Aníbal Cruz); “Castelo de Areia” (Geraldo Jacques/Isaías Freitas/Moreirinha); and “E European union Sem Maria” (Alcir Pires Vermelho/Dorival Caymmi). In 1958, he released his own structure, “Filha perform Coronel” (co-written by Irani de Oliveira), having been a prolific lyricist. Beginning his professional profession in 1935 being a crooner within a Carioca gafieira, four years afterwards he became a member of the group Namorados ao Luar, where he appreciated some achievement. With Marília Batista and her sibling Henrique Batista, Gerardi produced the group Operating-system Três Marrecos in 1941. In the same calendar year, he documented “Não Faça Vontade a Ela” (Nelson Cavaquinho). In 1944, when he had been the crooner for Simon Bountman’s orchestra, Gerardi was employed by Rádio Transmissora. His initial strike was the samba-canção “Pergunte a Ela” (Geraldo Pereira/Fernando Martins, 1948), but his biggest one was from 1950, the samba “Antonico” (Ismael Silva). After a stint on the Rádio Tupi, he visited Rádio Nacional in 1953, where he proved helpful until his pension.
