Harmon Ray

b. 1914, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Ray was raised in St. Louis, where he used blues performing in the 30s, implementing the vocal design of Peetie Wheatstraw, with whom he proved helpful as a dual action from 1935 until Wheatstraw’s loss of life in 1941. In 1942, Ray documented as ‘Peetie Wheatstraw’s Friend’. After armed service service he resolved in Chicago, performing in night clubs, and documenting for J. Mayo Williams, and also require been the foundation of the Hy-Tone 78 launch. Ray’s last recordings had been manufactured in 1949, one music being in the way of Charles Dark brown, and the additional three in Wheatstraw’s design; two of the were cover variations of Wheatstraw tunes, but ‘Chief executive’s Blues’ was a genuine tribute to Truman. Ray continuing to function in Chicago night clubs before early 60s, when malignancy pressured him to retire.
