Hanuman

The Seattle-based acoustic instrumental jam band Hanuman is made up of members Paul Benoit (classical guitar), Tige DeCoster (acoustic bass), Jarrod Kaplan (djembe, percussion), and Scott Law (mandolin, classical guitar). Combining rock and roll, funk, jazz, bluegrass, African, Middle Eastern, and experimental music collectively into one tasty sonic cocktail, the quartet’s audio brings to brain such acclaimed performers as Dave Matthews; Medeski, Martin & Real wood; and David Grisman. The music group created in June of 1996, acquiring their name from tales of the Hindu Monkey God, with the initial lineup comprising flutist Ben Klein furthermore to Kaplan, DeCoster, and Benoit. Klein still left the group in November of 1997 because the group was placed on hiatus while Benoit and DeCoster toured with root base rockers Crosseyed and Kaplan documented and toured using the tribal gypsy pop music group Devachan. A calendar year later, the rest of the trio wished to resurrect Hanuman once again, and started playing being a trio through the entire summer months of 1999 (billed because the Hanuman Trio). By nov the same calendar year, Scott Laws was welcomed aboard, because the music group returned with their primary setup of the quartet, and started supplementing their concert events with such extra music artists as Damien Aiken on saxophone, Hugh Sutton on Wurlitzer key pad and accordion, and Billy Oskay in the fiddle. The group was asked to open up for (and in addition serve because the support music group) for vocalist/songwriter Dan Bern on many large-scale East Coastline dates, and it has eventually played displays with such big brands because the String Mozzarella cheese Occurrence, the Jazz Mandolin Task, Jimmy Cliff, the Micky Hart Music group, Zen Tricksters, Big Wu, Joe Craven, the Motet, Living Daylights, Grandmothers, and Vinyl fabric, amongst others. In 2000, Hanuman made an appearance at numerous open up air festivals in the Western world Coast, tops getting the Great Sierra Music Celebration, the Oregon Nation Good, NW Folklife, and Bumbershoot. Up to now, the quartet provides issued a complete of three albums — their self-titled debut in 1996, 1999’s Hanuman Trio Live, and 2000’s Pedalhorse.
