Biography

This east London post-punk all-female trio was formed in 1982 by Paula Richards (b. 1 August 1963, Kent, Britain; acoustic guitar/vocals), Suzanne Scott (bass/vocals) and Karen Yarnell (b. 2 Apr 1961; drums/vocals), who have been joined up with on some live shows by Kathy Barnes (keyboards). The effervescent group documented the traditional tribute to alcoholic revelry, ‘The Consuming Track’, among additional less significant misdemeanours. In addition they provided some singles for the Abstract label, including a cover edition of Suzi Quatro’s strike, ‘48 Crash’. Their single album, Rockin’ USING THE Renees, was also released on Abstract, and was put through many reissues over time. Following the group break up in 1986 Yarnell briefly became a member of Norwich band Severe Consuming before rejoining Richards (who, for the time being, had been dealing with the Deltones and Potato 5) within the Renees the next year.
