Falling Up

Christian metallic act Falling Up is usually in lots of ways a protégé from the better-known group Kutless: members of both bands was raised together in the Portland suburb of Albany, OR, as well as the competent band initially brought Falling Up to the attention of both their label, BEC Recordings, and their preliminary producer, founded CCM artist Aaron Sprinkle. But where Kutless is usually a reasonably standard-issue Christian gloss on metal-tinged emo, Falling Up includes a even more chart-oriented sound with solid electronica and hip-hop affects (including a full-time programmer and DJ within their early lineup) wedded with their nu-metal bottom. The band produced in Albany in 2000, ultimately coalescing in to the lineup of vocalist, keyboardist, and principal songwriter Jessy Ribordy, guitarists Tom Cox and Joseph Kisselburgh, bassist Jeremy Miller, drummer Josh Shroy, and DJ and programmer A-Dub. Naming themselves after an early on unrecorded song, Dropping Up signed using the Teeth & Toe nail subsidiary BEC Recordings in 2003 and released their debut record, Crashings, in Feb 2004. Shedding pounds to a four-piece with Cox’s and A-Dub’s departures, Dropping Up released their even more conventionally metallic second record, Dawn Escapes, in nov 2005. Falling Up underwent another main lineup transformation in 2006, changing founding member Kisselburgh with brand-new guitarist Micah Sannan and adding full-time keyboardist Adam Taylor therefore Ribordy could concentrate solely on vocals. Using the documenting of their third record delayed with the lineup turmoil, Dropping Up had taken the somewhat uncommon step of launching an record of electronic, commercial, and darkwave reworkings by several manufacturers and DJs of music off their first two albums. The remix record, Exit Lights, premiered in Sept 2006.
