Dick Lammi was an excellent rhythm participant in Dixieland configurations, driving the soloists along with his tuba and bass performing. He actually began on violin and banjo, freelancing in the Pacific Northwest in the last mentioned instrument through the last mentioned half from the 1920s. Lammi mainly played bass throughout a five-year extend in Portland, OR and, after shifting to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 1936, he started doubling on tuba. Lammi is certainly best-known for his use Lu Watters’ important Yerba Buena Jazz Music group during 1941-1950, showing up on almost all from the band’s recordings.
