David Otero

Pursuing in the footsteps of his cousin Dani, David Otero was the next person in Spanish power pop clothing El Canto del Loco to go after a solo job, pursuing their 2009 self-imposed hiatus. Given birth to in Madrid in 1980, he analyzed legislation and aeronautical administration, before replacing initial guitarist Iván Ganchegui in the first lineup from the greatly successful music group, which obtained four number 1 albums and 11 chart-topping singles through the noughties, among which (“Despiertame”) Otero penned. Benefiting from their end-of-decade break, he released his debut single recording, Nada Lógico, beneath the guise of Un Pescao (extracted from among the band’s tunes) this year 2010. Written, performed, and created almost completely himself, the recording, which featured many songs discarded from earlier Un Canto del Loco classes, showcased a far more experimental part, flirting with electronica, indie pop, and folk, alongside collaborations with hotshot maker Carlos Jean, DJ Wally Lopez, and Brazilian vocalist Ana Cañas.
