Darryl Duncan

Duncan was created in Chicago, Illinois, USA, where he formed the funk group Cashmere within the mid-70s. Departing the band ahead of their graph successes over the Philly Globe label, he focused on songwriting, composing the appealing ballad ‘Merely Gorgeous’ for Jerry Butler in 1982, and collaborating with performers including Chaka Khan and Maurice Light. Moving to LA in 1986, he created an record for Foxy Information, and opened up his own documenting career using a monitor on Motown’s Law enforcement Academy IV film soundtrack. He agreed upon a full-scale agreement with Motown in 1987, and gained instant acclaim for the tribute one ‘James Dark brown (Component 1)’, as well as for the mixture of funk and spirit designs on his self-produced debut record.
