Daniel Szabo

b. 1975, Hungary. Playing piano from age four, Szabo researched in Pecs, after that Budapest. Through the past due 90s he earned awards in Lithuania and Hungary with the Montreux Jazz Celebration, performing there with the IAJE meeting in NEW YORK. In 2001, he researched on the Henry Mancini Institute in LA and 2 yrs later went to New Britain Conservatory of Boston being a Fulbright scholar. There, he researched with Bob Brookmeyer and Danilo Perez, and graduated in 2005. Over the last many years of his research he frequently performed, including gigs with George Garzone, Tim Hagans, Joe Lovano, Harvey Mason, Natural herb Pomeroy, George Russell, Maria Schneider and Frank Tiberi. Szabo provides continued to execute internationally, including spells with Rosario Giuliani, Eric Marienthal and Kurt Rosenwinkel, the last mentioned showing up on Szabo’s 2007 Warner Jazz debut Frictions. Szabo also has in Mihaly Borbely’s Barber’s Store, a music group playing improvised music that mixes jazz, classics as well as the cultural music from the Carpathian and Balkans locations, and he provides documented with Tüzkö Csaba and Ágnes Lakatos.
