The pseudonym of Cleveland, Ohio-born actor and songwriter Richard “Dick” Monda, Daddy Dewdrop is most beneficial known for his 1971 bubblegum novelty hit “Chick-A-Boom (Don’t Ya Jes’ THINK IT?S GREAT).” A previous child acting professional, Monda was a prolific songwriter and maker through the 1960s and ’70s, documenting and liberating music under his personal name (the Verve Records-issued Truth, Lays, Magic and Trust) and under his even more recognizable nom de plume (1971’s eponymous, Sunflower-issued Daddy Dewdrop). “Chick-A-Boom” was originally created for the U.S. toon tv series Sabrina as well as the Groovy Ghoulies, that Monda offered as music manufacturer.
