Buon Vecchio Charlie

Produced in Rome in 1970, Buon Vecchio Charlie will be the all-but unidentified creators of what provides since been defined among the best of most Italian prog albums, a self-titled effort documented around planting season 1971 for the Venice-based Suono label, but still left to languish over the shelf for another twenty years. Composed of three monitors, including a mammoth version of “The Hall FROM THE Mountain Ruler”, it had been finally unearthed by Melos in 1992. Buon Vecchio Charlie themselves continuing functioning into 1972, with many band members signing up for singer-songwriter Beppe Palomba on his record A Rosa, a Giovanna e alle altre. (Two monitors from this record had been included on the past due 1999 Akarma label reissue of Buon Vecchio Charlie.) Following that, guitarist Luigi Calabrò, bassist Paolo Damiani and drummer Rino Sangiorgio produced a new music group, the jazz-rock clothing Bauhaus – no relationship, of course, towards the British isles goths of early 1980s renown!
