Brazil began in Muncie, IN, around 2000, using a lineup that included brothers Nic and Jonathon Newby, Aaron Smith, Benjamin Hunt, Eric Johnson, and Scott Freeman. The sextet documented some demos and started gigging whenever you can. Ultimately their persistence paid, and Brazil guaranteed a cope with Fearless, who released the Dasein EP in fall 2002. Its ambitious combination of post-hardcore freak-outs, experimental sound, and intensifying piano actions didn’t necessarily create a splash, nonetheless it do put Brazil over the touring map.
