Bob Maize

A busy freelancer throughout the majority of his profession, Bob Maize could be counted to present stimulating support and inventive however subtle solos. After beginning piano research at age group seven, Maize turned to bass, which he started playing skillfully at age group 13. He transferred to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 1963 and shortly worked inside your home rings at Soulville and Bop Town. Maize used Sonny Stitt, Philly Joe Jones, Jon Hendricks and in a rock-band (on electrical bass). He is at San Francisco for a long time, gigging with Mose Allison, Supplement Ellis, Monty Alexander and Anita O’Day, among numerous others. Maize ultimately relocated to LA, but there is no slowing of his musical actions. He recorded frequently for Concord being a sideman in the ’70s and ’80s (including with Scott Hamilton, Dave McKenna, Tal Farlow as well as the Concord All-Stars), used Horace Sterling silver from 1983-84, toured Japan with Sarah Vaughan in 1985, and provides kept quite active on the Western world Coastline in hard bop-oriented configurations.
