With the discharge of the self-titled debut album, in 1998, Colombia-based octet Bloque successfully reached out to a global audience. A lively, dance-inspiring mixture of salsa, rock and roll, blues, and R&B, the record placed 5th on a summary of “best albums” published by New York Situations critics, and initial on the list published by the Philadelphia Enquirer. Sold-out stadium travels of Latin America implemented. Several associates of Bloque performed jointly in Latin superstar Carlos Vives’ music group. Guitarist Teto Ocampo offered as Vive’s musical movie director, while guitarist/business lead vocalist Ivan Benavides co-wrote the name an eye on Vive’s record, Tierra Del Olvido.
