Alienoid

One of a growing variety of Asian rings wanting to replicate the noises of imported American rock through the mid-90s, Malaysia’s Alienoid performed entirely in Cantonese. Inspired in the primary with the Beyond and China’s Tang Dynasty, the music group was first discovered in 1994 on the Guinness-sponsored Canto-Rock Competition. The impression they produced there resulted in a recording agreement through Eric Yeoh of PolyGram Information. As well as two other modern Malaysian rock rings, Barabastelles and Baby Amps, Alienoid produced their debut in the compilation record Canto-Rock Kaki, released in 1995. Its achievement prompted the record label to concern Alienoid’s self-titled debut the next year.
