Muscle tissue Shoals-inspired, Athens, Alabama-based quartet Alabama Shakes formed in ’09 2009 across the abilities of Brittany Howard, Zac Cockrell, Steve Johnson, and Heath Fogg. Originally basically known as the Shakes, the band’s mixture of fiery blues-rock and hard-hitting Southern spirit drew comparisons towards the Dark Tips, Drive-By Truckers, the Detroit Cobras, as well as Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings.
