Aimé Maillart

A composition college student of Halevy and Leborne on the Paris Conservatoire, Maillart also studied violin with Guerin. His initial place surface finish in the “Prix de Rome” was for the cantata “Lionel Foscari.” Operas constructed by Maillart included “Gastibelza ou Le fou de Tolede,” “Le moulin de tilleuls,” “La croix de Marie,” “Les dragons de Villars,” (his most effective function) and “Les pecheurs de Catane.” Two additional cantatas included “La voie sacree,” and “Le quinze aout.”
