Adam Rudolph

Composer/hands percussionist Adam Rudolph was created in Chicago in 1955, so when a teenager was mentored by famous brands Don Cherry, Fred Anderson, and Maulawi Nururdin. After finding a self-designed undergraduate level in ethnomusicology from Oberlin University, Rudolph continued to gain his M.F.A. through the California Institute from the Arts; in 1977 he journeyed to Ghana and fulfilled the famed griot Foday Musa Suso, along with a season afterwards they reunited in Chicago to create the Mandingo Griot Culture, pioneering a fusion of traditional African music with jazz and R&B. Rudolph additionally spent 15 years learning North Indian tabla drums beneath the renowned Pandit Taranath Rao, also frequently collaborating with L. Shankar and Hassan Hakmoun. His considerable research throughout European countries, Asia, and Africa allowed Rudolph to understand a vast selection of percussion devices, like the congas, djembe, bendir, dumbek, tabla, speaking drum, kalimba, and udu; furthermore to showing up on classes by everyone from Herbie Hancock to Jon Hassell to Shadowfax, he collaborated thoroughly with Yusef Lateef from 1988 onward. Rudolph debuted his personal group, Moving Photos, having a self-titled 1992 LP; in 1995 he premiered his 1st opera, The Dreamer. In the first area of the 21st hundred years, Rudolph became a founding person in Build an Ark in LA, a multigenerational band of music artists including Carlos Niño, Dwight Trible, Phil Ranelin, and twelve others. They released two good albums, 2004’s Serenity with Every Stage and 2007’s Dawn. Rudolph also collaborated with Leni Stern on her behalf 2007 work Africa. Dream Backyard adopted in 2008. This year 2010 Rudolph released two even more recordings on Meta: Yèconí with reed grasp and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Jones and Towards Unfamiliar with composer and multi-instrumentalist Lateef — although around the latter disk Lateef received best billing. In 2015 Rudolph shipped Turning Towards the Light, the debut recording from his Proceed: Organic Acoustic guitar Orchestra offering guitarists Rez Abbasi, Nels Cline, Liberty Ellman, David Gilmore, Kilometers Okazaki, and Marvin Sewell.
