Mahan Esfahani

Harpsichordist and organist Mahan Esfahani grew up in Tehran, and he received his first musical schooling from his dad. He pursued musicology and background at Stanford School, and George Houle, Heather Hadlock, Elaine Thornburgh, Herbert Myers, and Adam Gilbert had been among his instructors. He continuing his postgraduate research in harpsichord with Peter Watchorn, Lorenzo Ghielmi, and Zuzana Ruzicková. From 2008 to 2010, Esfahani was artist-in-residence at New University, Oxford, and a BBC Radio 3 New Era Musician. His debuts at Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms, and New York’s Frick Collection brought him worldwide attention. He released his recording profession with Hyperion, executing Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Wurttemburg Sonatas and the entire key pad music of Jean-Philippe Rameau. In 2014, he agreed upon an exclusive agreement with Deutsche Grammophon, and in 2015 he started teaching harpsichord on the Guildhall College of Music and Play. That same calendar year, he was called Newcomer of the entire year by BBC Music Journal.
