The musical traditions of Morocco’s Gnaoua culture have already been taken to the worldwide arena by Marrakesh-born percussionist/vocalist Mustapha Baqbou (created: Maalem Mustapha Baqbou). Having released his career mainly because an associate of important Moroccan traditional dance music group Jil Jilala, Baqbou is becoming increasingly exciting. In 1996 he documented an recording, Aisha, with Danish bassist Peter Danstrup that combined Moroccan and Traditional western influences.
