Danny D’Imperio

An excellent drummer, Danny D’Imperio is best-known for his leadership and recordings using the Metropolitan Bopera Home and his own groupings. He found early experience using the Glenn Miller ghost music group (1970-1972) and 2 yrs apiece using the orchestras of Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman. He subbed for Pal Rich when Full was sick in 1983, was the home drummer at Condon’s, and it has freelanced a lot, but it is certainly his V.S.O.P. recordings (which frequently feature obscure bop and hard bop music getting revived with passion) which have provided D’Imperio a degree of fame.
