Wolves in the Throne Room

Composed of dual vocalist/guitarists Rick Dahlin and Nathan Weaver, plus drummer Aaron Weaver (Nathan’s brother), Olympia, Washington’s Wolves within the Throne Space offer in dour black color metal epics influenced by lengthy, bleak winters, pagan legends, and Scandinavian rings like Darkthrone, Windir, and Enslaved. Honing their dark art with two EPs in 2004 and 2005, the trio documented their well-received debut full-length, Diadem of 12 Celebrities, in 2006, liberating it through Vendlus Information. Arriving in 2007, the Southern Lord-issued Two Hunters extended around the group’s currently cavernous audio, while 2009’s Dark Cascade discovered them leaving the sprawling atmosphere of their previous outings and only a far more muscular, traditional dark metal path. Released in 2011, Celestial Lineage effectively married both methods, leading to their most processed and assured outing up to now. In 2014 the music group released Celestite, a mainly experimental and instrumental sister recording of types to Celestial Lineage that launched thick, synth-driven vistas to their ever-expanding palette of noises.
