Vaura

Wishing to stability metal’s masculine precision with an increase of feminine-inspired atmospheres and feelings, Vaura features vocalist/guitarist Josh Strawn, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel, bassist Toby Driver, and drummer Charlie Schmid. The associates’ pedigrees reveal different but complementary methods to dark and large music: Strawn and Schmid result from the dramatic rock and roll outfit Spiritual to Damn, while Hufnagel provides used Dysrhythmia, Gorguts, and Jarboe, and Drivers spent some time working with Kayo Dot and Tartar Lamb. The group’s live debut in Sept 2011 at NEW YORK club Lit presented their hard-to-place mixture of steel, prog, post-rock, shoegaze, and post-punk, the feeling that was cemented by Vaura’s helping schedules with Junius and O’Brother in early 2012. These displays happened a couple weeks before their full-length debut, Selenelion, that was documented and combined by Krallice’s Colin Marston, premiered by Weird Information.
