Thing-One

Using a discography that plays like a number of different bands rolled into one, Thing-One began being a live hip-hop group that incorporated rap, rock and roll, soul, and jazz, before morphing into an indie rock-band with dancy overtones. Very similar sounding to Dismemberment Program or Arcade Fireplace by enough time of their third discharge, in the band’s development in 2003, innovator Joey Palestina was virtually solely affected by rap. Influenced by Nas, GZA, Biggie Smalls, and a lesser-known rapper called Esthero, Palestina and his friend Spencer Miles began freestyling at a cellar party in Glen Ridge, NJ. What began like a gag quickly progressed into an reality, and after playing displays like a live hip-hop music group complete with a lady support vocalist, their 1st EP, Prior to the Road, premiered in 2004. Plucky and beat-based with emo-centric lyrics that revolved around adolescent concerns about obtaining dumped as well as the doubt of post-collegiate existence, this five-track record was curved up to their 1st full-length, …Kilometers from the street, in 2005. After a proceed to Brooklyn, the group began to improvement musically and became enamored of rings like Ra Ra Riot, Mooney Suzuki, and Apes & Androids. Guitarist Adam Arcano was recruited and along with Kilometers Palestina, Spencer Kilometers, and drummer Tim Alworth, their second full-length, GhettoSkylineSuburbanFarmland, was finished in 2008.
