The Copyrights

The Copyrights play a stripped-down version of pop-punk within the tradition of fellow Illinois rings like Screeching Weasel as well as the Methadones, with old-school punk and pop influences which range from the Ramones as well as the Undertones to Audio Affects-vintage Jam as well as the first handful of Cheap Technique albums. Created in the tiny southern Illinois town of Carbondale (very much nearer to St. Louis, MO, than Chicago) in 2002, the Copyrights originally contains bassist and main lead vocalist Adam Fletcher, guitarists/vocalists Brett Hunter and Ken Clifford, and drummer Luke McNeill. Authorized to the Washington, D.C., indie Insubordination Information, the Copyrights released their debut recording, We Didn’t Arrive Right here to Die (made by Illinois pop-punk story Mass Giorgini), in 2003. It had been subsequently accompanied by two EPs, 2004’s Switch Smasher and 2005’s Nowhere Near Chicago (both through It’s Alive Information). Changing the departed Clifford with fresh guitarist Nick O’Neil, the Copyrights came back making use of their second recording, Mutiny Pop, in-may 2006. Not losing any time, numerous shows followed prior to the men (right now with Jeff Funburg up to speed instead of O’Neil) had been back the studio room by the beginning of 2007 to start recording their following record; Make Audio surfaced that springtime via Crimson Scare.
