Energetic N.Con.C. rockers Group USA throw an array of influences to their quirky pop stew, from supple brand-new wave to traditional power pop to good-time ’60s rock and roll. The group features an aggressive electric guitar strike and oddball lead vocals that recall Television’s Tom Verlaine or Speaking Minds’ David Byrne. Group USA can be originally from St. Louis. Jackie Gendel, Mike Reddy, and John Mathias had been art-school learners who became a member of up with drummer Andy O’Neill in nov 1995 and started performing around the region. The group ultimately relocated to NEW YORK, executing at hip downtown locations and launching a four-song EP, When Will the Weekend?, past due in 2000.
