The Bug

Kevin Martin, the primary man behind an array of tasks — linked to experimental ambient (Hearing), space jazz (God), hip-hop (Snow), and electronic music (Techno Pet) — founded the Insect in 1996 for Tapping the Discussion, much dub album (predicated on Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 film The Discussion) documented for WordSound with ambient-breakbeat maestro DJ Vadim. Five years later on, the Bug came back as a mainly Martin task with Pressure, an archive that wrecked dancehall conventions and presented vocal toasts from your Rootsman, Daddy Freddy, and Toastie Tailor. Though it didn’t appear as though the Bug continued to be steadily active through the following couple of years, Martin as well as the Rootsman teamed (as Razor X Productions) to record some pulverizing singles which were ultimately put together for 2006’s Getting rid of Sound. He and Carlson continuing to operate exhaustively on the full-length. That cooperation, titled Cement Desert, premiered by Ninja Listen in the springtime of 2017.
