Using the dissolution of Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine in 1997 and subsequent aborted attempts for an instant follow-up maneuver, James Morrison resurfaced in 2001 with two different solo tasks, Jim’s Super Stereoworld and James Robert Morrison. As the previous demonstrated his aged band’s penchant for punk music hall, the J.R. debut released but a couple of months later on proved that this reserved and peculiar balladry lengthy adored by Carter followers — “Skywest and Crooked,” “Nowhere Fast” — by no means fully dispersed.
