The Anniversary

The Anniversary brought their very own mixture of male-female vocals, jangly guitars, and synth keyboards towards the emo scene after signing with Heroes and Villains, an imprint of Vagrant Information, in 1999. Hailing from Kansas, the group started growing their fanbase beyond the Midwest using the launch of 2000’s Developing a Nervous Break down, a solid debut that gained them comparisons with their label owners, the GET RIGHT UP Kids, in addition to another boy-girl synth pop music group, the Renting. At the primary of the group had been three business lead vocalists — guitarists Josh Berwanger, Justin Roelofs, and keyboardist Adrianne Verhoeven — with drummer Christian Jankowski and bassist Adam David filling in the tempo section. Borrowing in the theatrics of ’80s rock and roll bands, the Wedding anniversary reveled in adding glittery pyrotechnics with their concert events, and their identification grew through the brand-new millennium. The music group issued a divide EP with Superdrag in fall 2001 and afterwards collaborated using the Pulsars’ Dave Trumfio because of their 2002 sophomore work, Your Majesty. Following the discharge of the Majesty, the Wedding anniversary began demoing monitors for their following album but had been ultimately derailed by innovative differences, which compelled the group to split. After the break up, Berwanger, Jankowski, and David produced the Only Kids, while Verhoeven sang in several bands before launching an record in 2008 beneath the name D*R*I*. Roelofs pursued various other projects, too, launching a record beneath the name Light Air travel. In 2008, Vagrant paid tribute towards the group by launching the double-disc established Devil on Our Aspect: Rarities and B-Sides, made up of demos that spanned the group’s whole career, in addition to singles and compilation monitors.
