Teddy Weatherford

b. 11 Oct 1903, Pocahontas, Virginia, USA, d. 25 Apr 1945, Calcutta, India. While Weatherford was still a kid his family shifted to New Orleans where he started playing piano as an adolescent. He was still in his teenagers when he became a member of the fantastic northward migration, finding yourself in Chicago in 1922. Through the next couple of years he is at very much demand in the town but itchy ft took him overseas, travelling to china and taiwan in 1926 1st like a sideman but later on as a music group leader. He performed in Malaya, the Philippines and China from where he came back in the middle-30s just lengthy enough to persuade Buck Clayton to have a music group to Shanghai. From China, Weatherford shifted to India, France, Sweden, back again to India and Ceylon and finally to India just as before where he performed, primarily in Calcutta, until his loss of life from cholera.
