Sukia

Acquiring their name from a Mexican lesbian vampire comic-book heroine, the avant-lounge quartet Sukia surfaced from Los Angeles’ famed Silverlake scene (the same musical community house to Beck, the Beastie Boys, as well as the Dust particles Brothers). Made up of multi-instrumentalists Sasha Fuentes, Ross Harris, Sophistication Marks, and Craig Borrell, Sukia mixed Moog-driven grooves laced with discovered examples and space-age pop looks on the 1996 debut Contacto Especial con un Tercer Sexo, made by the Dirt Brothers and released on the Nickel Handbag label.
