Scott Hartley was raised in a number of different locations within the Midwest. He demonstrated an early curiosity about music which was inspired by his parents and started piano lessons at five. He got into university at Indiana School Southeast in New Albany, IN, majoring in piano and traditional functionality, but after 2 yrs, used in the Berklee University of Music, that he graduated using a Bachelors of Music level in Music Synthesis. After university, he proved helpful at some electronics companies, Kawai America, Yamaha, and Alesis. He founded his very own record label, First Light, and released his debut record Forest Light in 1998, pursuing it with Ancestral Crossing in early 2001.
