Sarah Brown

Bassist, singer and songwriter Sarah Dark brown could be a newcomer for some, but others will keep in mind her from time ago. Brown provides resided in Austin, Tx since 1982, and before that she was area of the Ann Arbor, Michigan blues picture. Over time, Brown has performed bass with Albert Collins, Pal Guy, Otis Hurry, James Natural cotton, Dr. John, Memphis Slim and Earl Ruler. Brown’s songs have already been documented by Marcia Ball, Lou Ann Barton, Angela Strehli, Joe Louis Walker and Lavelle Light. Her first documenting program was for Blind Pig Information with an organization known as the Vipers, including drummer Fran Christina. Brown’s debut record, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, premiered on Blind Pig in 1996. Dark brown, the daughter of the Russian literature teacher at the College or university of Michigan, performed cello in senior high school. Her lifestyle transformed in 1965 when she noticed Buddy Man for the very first time. As she became addicted to blues music and playing bass, she also analyzed the spirit music noises of Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke. Dark brown attended Berklee University of Music in Boston but came back to Ann Arbor a 12 months later on and became a normal participant around the then-burgeoning blues picture in Ann Arbor. After touring round the U.S. with Big Walter Horton, the Tempo Rockers, Geoff Muldaur and her personal music group, the Hipshakes, she toured European countries in 1982 with slip guitarist J.B. Hutto. Later on that 12 months, she relocated to Austin to try out using the LeRoi Brothers. Although she’s an achieved and constant blues bassist, Dark brown never wished to be only a blues participant. She plays a number of designs and enjoys seated in with different sets of music artists around Austin. Two decades after she started playing bass, Dark brown decided to business lead her personal trio, plus some from the email address details are captured on her behalf Blind Pig debut. Guests on Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’ consist of vocalist Lou Ann Barton and pianist/vocalist Marcia Ball.
