Sam Morgan

b. 18 Dec 1887, Bertrandville, Louisiana, USA, d. 25 Feb 1936, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Greatly popular around New Orleans, trumpeter Morgan’s profession was dogged by ill wellness. Nevertheless, he accomplished lasting fame due to some traditional recordings manufactured in 1927 that demonstrated his to be always a music group of great design and assault, playing in the brand new Orleans way. The music group survived changing styles but, pursuing Morgan’s second heart stroke, split up in 1933. Morgan got three musical brothers: Andrew (b. 13 March 1901, d. 19 Sept 1972; clarinet/saxophone), Isaiah (b. 7 Apr 1897, d. 11 Might 1966; trumpet), and Al Morgan (b. 19 August 1908, d. 14 Apr 1974), who performed bass with many rings including those of Cab Calloway, Excess fat Waller and Les Hite, and in addition caused Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan and Sabby Lewis.
