Jimmy Dotson

b. 19 Oct 1933, Ethel, Louisiana, USA. Dotson started his musical profession performing blues at an area juke joint, but afterwards developed his abilities to encompass drums and electric guitar. He played within a music group with Lazy Lester, and afterwards with Silas Hogan in an organization called the Tempo Ramblers. Although Hogan was the first choice of the group, their initial record was made out of Dotson on vocals. Two singles had been released on Jay Miller’s very own Rocko and Zynn brands under Dotson’s name, both within an upbeat R&B vein, quite not the same as Hogan’s down-home blues audio. Dotson resided in Memphis for quite some time and got another single released on the house FROM THE Blues label, but shifted back again to Baton Rouge in the first 80s and resumed his profession at Tabby Thomas’ Blues Container club.
