Room Nine

Room 9 represented a different turn to the ’80s Seattle music picture. Formed in the first ’80s, Space Nine’s moody psychedelia didn’t garner the press or radio interest that this city’s post-punk functions eventually did. Made up of Ron Rudzitis (vocals), Michael Laton (acoustic guitar), Scott Boggan (bass), and Shawn Allen (drums), Space Nine was a fundamental element of Seattle underground rock and roll. During Space Nine’s start, Rudzitis’ house was called the area Nine House, a location where local music artists socialized after gigs. Rudzitis distributed the house with Feast drummer Dan Peters and renowned Seattle professional photographer Charles Peterson. Rudzitis transformed his name to Ron Nine, and Allen was changed by Scott Vanderpool. In 1988, Area Nine released the critically acclaimed LP Voices…On the Summer’s Day on C’est La Mort Details. The monitor “Sea With out a Shoreline” was popular on college-radio channels, and the music group even got second put on among MTV’s Cellar Tapes contests. After Area Nine split up in the past due ’80s, Nine shaped Love Battery pack with Peters, previous Green River and Mom Love Bone tissue bassist Bruce Fairweather, and ex-Crisis Party guitarist Kevin Witworth. In 1992, Like Battery documented their debut recording, Between the Eye, for Sub Pop Information. Boggan remaining music for the pc market while Vanderpool became a rock-radio DJ.
