Roman Tam

Honorarily crowned the Godfather of Cantopop, Roman Tam enjoyed an extended and successful singing career that spanned three decades. Delivered in Guangxi, China, on Feb 16, 1950, he immigrated to Hong Kong in 1962 at 12 years. He started his musical profession in 1967 as the vocalist of Roman & the Four Guidelines, and later joined up with the personnel of TVB being a agreement vocalist in 1974. Many memorably, he sang the theme tune for Below the Lion Rock and roll, a TVB present that shown for twenty years, from 1974 to 1994. His reputation peaked in the 1970s and ’80s, when he sang many traditional duets with Jenny Tseng. He retired through the music sector in 1996 and afterwards died from liver organ cancer on Oct 18, 2002, at age group 52.
