Rick Stone

A fixture on the brand new York scene because the early ’80s, Rick Rock is a respected and talented bop-oriented guitarist. He was originally drawn to jazz after hearing Sonny Stitt play locally. Rock examined at Cuyahoga Community University but was generally self-taught being a jazz participant. After graduating from Berklee in 1980, he transferred to NY, examined with Barry Harris (1982-1987) and gigged locally. Rock taught at Speed School during 1984-1990 and afterwards at Jazz Cell. Rock, that has been leading his very own combos for a long time, has recorded several albums for his Jazzand label, including 1990’s ASIA (with Kenny Barron), 1994’s Steppin’ Back again, 2004’s Samba de Novembro, and 2011’s Fractals.
