Ray Crawford

Ray Crawford played tenor and clarinet with Fletcher Henderson during 1941-1943 but tuberculosis forced him to provide them up. He turned to acoustic guitar and was a significant section of Ahmad Jamal’s early organizations (1949-1955); his capability to make his acoustic guitar appear to be bongos by striking it was quickly adopted by Plant Ellis. Crawford also documented with Gil Evans (1959-1960), performed on / off with Jimmy Smith from 1958 in to the 1980s, and in the ’60s resolved in LA. He led pretty obscure information for Candid (1961, however, not released before ’80s), Dobre (1977), and United Country wide (1978).
