Vocalist Kim Waters and German-born multi-instrumentalist/manufacturer Hans Christian comprise Rasa, a San Francisco-based duo focused on Indian devotional music. Waters includes a parallel profession as an illustrator, because of her mastery of traditional Indian art designs, while Christian proved helpful as a program musician in LA through the ’80s and eventually collaborated with performers like Robert Full, Vas, Krishna Das, and Jai Uttal. Jointly, Rasa plays in the relaxing, hypnotic areas of Indian religious music, adding contemporary production while preserving respect for custom.
