Ramon Sender

Electronic and experimental composer Ramon Sender co-founded the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Tape Music Middle with Morton Subotnick in 1961. He analyzed under George Copeland, Elliott Carter, and Robert Erickson in California schools including Mills University (M.A., 1965). In the S.F. Tape Music Center’s start, Sender, Subotnick, Pauline Oliveros, Tony Martin, and Terry Riley had been the primary composers. In the past due ’60s, Sender also became an integral part of Lou Gottlieb’s Morning hours Celebrity/Wheeler (Ahimsa) Ranch communes, and in the ’90s, became mixed up in Peregrine Basis, which assists people “surviving in or exiting from experimental interpersonal organizations.” His functions consist of “Desert Ambulance” (1964) for accordion, tape, slides, and film, and “Audition for Three Little Harps in Setting 28” (1981). Sender is definitely a performer in a few of his compositions, playing, among additional devices, the dilruba harp.
