Pronounced “O of J” and brief for “Orchestra of Jenno,” OOFJ may be the beautifully sinister orchestral-electro-pop duo of composer/multi-instrumentalist Jenno Bjørnkjær and vocalist Katherine Mills Rymer. Elevated within a music-loving home, Bjørnkjær was raised listening to traditional music and learning jazz saxophone. After participating in a Copenhagen conservatory for just two years, he visited NEW YORK for his research and noticed he wished to compose orchestral ratings. In the meantime, South African indigenous Rymer was seeking her acting profession when she fulfilled Bjørnkjær, who was simply focusing on music for Lars Von Trier’s film Melancholia aswell as his very own instrumental project. Locating common ground within their distributed like of Russian movies and French synthesizer music, the set struck up a romantic relationship and a musical relationship, and had written and documented their first tracks whilst travelling from South Africa to European countries to LA. OOFJ’s 2013 debut record, Disco to Pass away To, highlighted string parts performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra and was co-released with the Danish label Fake Gemstone and the store imprint ClapYouClapMe. The duo produced L.A. their house base and started work on brand-new material, launching the singles “Snakehips,” “You’re Often Great,” and “I ABSOLVE YOU” — that was remixed by Dean Blunt — before the 2015 discharge of Acute Feast. OOFJ after that collaborated with Chinese language musician Ai Weiwei on his part of the anthology film Berlin, I REALLY LIKE You.
