Mort Herbert

Mort Herbert is best-remembered for his stint as an associate of Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars. Herbert was self-taught on bass, spent 1943-1946 within the armed service, went to Rutgers (1949-1952) and really began his professional profession. He caused Marian McPartland, Don Elliott, the Sauter-Finegan Orchestra, Sol Yaged (1955-1958), along with other golf swing and mainstream players, frequently appearing in the Metropole. Herbert toured the entire world with Armstrong during 1958-1961, showing up on several records and mainly functioning like a supportive participant. After departing Satch, Mort Herbert mainly worked as an attorney, simply playing music on the part-time basis (including with Natural herb Ellis). He led an recording, Night time People, for Savoy in 1956.
