Naming the group after their main repertoire (“music for dad and mom”), the Moms & Dads polka strap were most well-known in Canada and Australia, though they originally hailed from Spokane, Washington. After developing in the first ’50s around saxophonist Quentin Ratliff, accordion participant Leslie Welch, drummer Harold Hendren and matriarchal pianist Doris Crow, the group became well-known 1st in Alberta, Canada, after a Montana radio train station played their initial documenting, “The Ranger’s Waltz.” The quartet performed around traditional western America and Canada, and became well-known for his or her old-timey, relaxed experience. Through the 1970s and ’80s, the group documented a large number of albums for GNP-Crescendo, as well as managed to strike the album graphs twice in the first ’70s.
