Mini All Stars

Mini Allstars were a studio-based music group of Haitian music artists brought collectively in NY in 1980 from the maker and owner of Mini Information, Fred Paul, to try out the music of Nemours Jean-Baptiste, the pioneer of Haiti’s ‘compas’ dance tempo, who had his heyday in the 50s. Offering vocalists Carlo Claudin and Willie Lacroix, plus accordionist Richard Durosseau, all veterans of Jean-Baptiste’s unique music group, the Mini Allstars documented two albums – Pure Platinum (1980) and Compas Mas (1982) – beginning a tendency among Haitian music artists for nostalgic re-recordings from the songs from the 50s. Fanatiques Compas features choices from your group’s two albums of joyous, big-band dance music.
