Mental Home

The progressive doom metal outfit Mental House was formed in Russia in November 1993 by brothers Sergey (vocals/guitars) and Igor Dmitriev (drums); the rest of the original lineup was finished by guitarist Roman Povarov and bassist Denis Samusev. The band’s 1994 demonstration Funeral Support quickly resulted in the official debut, Mirrorland, released later that 12 months by the tiny Metallic Agen label. Regrettably, an accidental problems for his hand remaining Povarov struggling to play acoustic guitar; he turned to keyboards, and guitarist Sergey Kalachov was put into the lineup. 1996’s Vale broke Mental House in Russia, and in addition attracted the interest from the U.S.-centered THE FINISH Records, which authorized the group to a global deal. Povarov, nevertheless, had stop the music group, and was changed by keyboardist Michael “Maiden” Smirnoff (who also doubled as their fresh supervisor). 1997’s Dark Art started to set up an overseas group of fans for Mental House, using its epic, goth-tinged atmospherics recalling experimental metallic rings like Tiamat or the Gathering. The follow-up, Upon the Shores of Internal Seas, was certified for wider discharge and distribution by Hundred years Mass media in 2000.
