Mark Whitfield

A talented guitarist influenced by George Benson and versatile more than enough to try out straight-ahead jazz or R&B, Tag Whitfield was originally a bassist. At 15 he turned to electric guitar and soon earned a scholarship or grant to Berklee. After graduating from Berklee in 1987, Whitfield briefly shifted to Brooklyn and made an appearance at many periods. George Benson recommended he function for Jack port McDuff which association was a big break for Whitfield. He provides since recorded being a head for Warner Bros. and Verve, so that as a sideman numerous players including Jimmy Smith, Nicholas Payton, Ray Dark brown, and Courtney Pine.
