Margaret Young

b. Margaret Youngblood, 23 Feb 1891, Detroit, Michigan, USA, d. 3 Might 1969, Inglewood, California, USA. Little sang as a kid and from 1920 got a profession on radio and information and she also toured vaudeville theatres. Her repertoire was filled up with novelty tracks and mildly risqué amounts, all delivered within a piping tone of voice that oozed sly innocence. Her initial recording profession with Brunswick Information finished in 1925 and small was heard about her until 1949 when she documented a few edges for Capitol Information. In the middle-50s she made an appearance in the Record Enthusiasts, a CBS radio present. Among Young’s three sisters, Eleanore, wedded songwriter Richard Whiting; their girl was singer Margaret Whiting. Among Young’s recordings had been some co-composed by her brother-in-law, including “Somebody’s Wrong” and “Ukulele Female”. Other tracks she recorded had been “Oh! By Jingo! Oh! By Gee!”, “O-oo Ernest”, “Hard-Hearted Hannah, The Vamp Of Savannah”, “Lovin’ Sam (The Sheik Of Alabam)”, “Method Down Yonder In New Orleans”, “Stumbling”, “Whoa, Tillie, INVEST SOME TIME”, “Louisville Lou, The Vampin’ Female”, “HE MIGHT Be Your Great Man Fri”, “Mama Goes Where Papa Goes (Or Papa Don’t VENTURE OUT Tonight)”, “Crimson Hot Henry Dark brown”, “He Loves It”, “Oogie Oogie Wa Wa” and “Lovely Henry”.
