Manuel “Manole” Perez

An early on pioneer of Fresh Orleans jazz, Manuel Perez tended to emphasize arranged ensembles and worked-out solos in his rings instead of freewheeled improvising. Energetic being a brass music group musician with the past due 1880s, Perez became a member of the Onward Brass Music group in 1900 and was its head from 1903 until its break up in 1930. Perez also led the Imperial Orchestra from 1901-08 and freelanced in lots of brass rings and dance rings. He produced two brief trips to Chicago: in 1915, when he used trombonist George Filhe and Charlie Elgar; and in 1928, when he caused Elgar again. It had been thought at onetime how the cornetist had documented with Elgar’s Creole Orchestra but sadly Perez (apart from appearing briefly on the verbal speaking record in 1944) under no circumstances documented. Perez retired from playing music in the 1930s after he experienced several strokes.
