Mae McKenna

b. Scotland. A modern Scottish vocalist who added an impressive efficiency on Contraband’s exclusive record in 1973. Soon after they disbanded, Transatlantic released McKenna being a singer-songwriter. She documented some capable, but undistinguished albums before spending a lot of the 80s being a program vocalist with pop performers such Rick Astley, and Ultravox. In 1988 McKenna amazingly reappeared in the Virgin Information Venture offshoot using the Celtic, modern Nightfallers. The ensuing record, Mirage & Actuality, shown her Enya -like characteristics and while much less solid as its forerunner, included a sensational interpretation from the Gaelic ‘St. Columbia’s Hymn’.
